"It is not enough to know and to be able to do tricks; the great art is that of seizing intelligently every circumstance which will help to make them appear marvellous and incomprehensible. A word, a gesture, when it is well placed often makes a powerful auxiliary. But, remember also that a word, a gesture, said or made inappropriately, will often ruin the effect of the trick completely"
